Through classroom and "hands-on" training, students acquire entry level skills in electrical wiring, motor controls, equipment controls, residential heating systems, heat pumps, residential cooling systems, and common refrigeration. Technical skills are reinforced through training in OSHA safety, tools and equipment, refrigerant and oil chemistry management, and theory of heat. Certifications: EPA section 608 and R-410A; Industry Competency Exam for HVAC technicians; OSHA 30-Hour General Industry Certification; American Heart First Aid/CPR Certification (optional). Admission Requirements: High School diploma or GED; Passing WorkKeys assessment; Basic computer skills; Valid driver's license; Ability to perform heavy lifting.
